CSI: NY 8.17 “Unwrapped” Review

The show beings with some slow motion wagering, and we see teenagers unknowingly stumble on a crime scene for our team, as we see a married couple going to their apartment to discover the dead body of a man who appears to be shot to his death. It is actually a very disturbing and a hard case for Lindsay Messer, as the whole scene if filled with presents, as it was Lucy Messer’s 3rd birthday. The victim is identified being Kelvin Moore, and from the investigations, he appears to have been a good guy with no criminal past. So it is really a mystery why was he killed.

We see his wife named Elaine ensuring them that it was a robber and he got killed during the robbery, but he doesn’t look like the type of guy who would do such a thing. Danny Messer finds the victim’s wallet and he finds a fingerprint on it that goes back to Morris Davis, a young man from town. Despite this, but he doesn’t run away, which is something new, as we are always accustomed to suspects running away, he willingly gives the money back when he discovers it is his, and they eliminate him as a suspect and they start to looking for another. Sid examined the body and it appears he got shot from a long distance, then there is number that belongs to Willis Frazier who is an ex-convict, he seems a suspect, he even didn’t go see his parole officer. But depending on the time the victim was shot and other evidence, he had to be let go. They go back to the scene and they investigate the blood patterns and it seems that there is a gift that was taken. There is also the whole fiasco about the cheap plaster that was present at the scene. And the plaster has traces of drugs on it, cocaine to be exact, and it seems that this whole case is built around drugs. By further investigations it is found that Clyde Duvall, Alicia’s neighbor is the actual killer. He listened to them talking about how will bring drugs to Alicia to save her niece, so he decided to interfere and killed the victim.

Although the team solved the case, it was a sad end, as it showed how cocaine and drugs in general can ruin people’s perfect lives. So all in all it was an amazing episode, really unpredictable and had a very sad but a real ending.
